Mann & Overton Taxis

VUE has recently installed some interesting equipment in a Manchester taxi cab turning it into a mobile demo unit.

The VUE equipment is an integrated security and entertainment system. It is designed to give the driver full vision of the passengers in the rear of the vehicle. Additionally, when the taxi is stationary, the driver is able to watch freeview digital TV channels between jobs.

A further option that will be made available is the installation of a digital video recorder and satellite navigation, enabling the driver to record any acts of violence or vandalism that he/she may feel threatened by. As well as acting as a deterrent to would-be criminals, it also provides the driver with evidence of any anti-social behaviour should he/she need it.

The vehicle will be shown around the taxi ranks of Manchester and surrounding areas by taxi manufacturer, Mann and Overton.

And as you can see from the colour it won't be missed!

Mann and Overton exhibited the phoenix gold taxi, installed with VUE equipment, at the Private Hire & Taxi Exhibition 2005 at The International Centre in Telford on 17th - 18th May 2005.

Through Central Networks, E.ON UK runs the electricity distribution network for the Midlands, from the Lincolnshire coast to the Welsh borders. E.ON deliver electricity to 4.8 million customers through a network of 133,000 km of overhead and underground cables.

Central Networks run a fleet of 94 Nissan Navara vehicles for their Restoration engineers. Following an initial system demonstration Central Networks opted to install the VUE flush mount camera and Rear View Mirror Monitor to their fleet in order to enhance the driver’s rear visibility.
